Ol' Man Dingle

Ol 'Man Dingle opened his account in the Kilmore Maiden Hurdle at Clonmel back in October 2024, sitting mid-pack before advancing approaching the final two flights. He seized the lead before the penultimate hurdle and, despite a slight error at the last, raced clear to win by over six lengths.

Just a few weeks later at Wexford, Ol'  Man Dingle bagged his second victory in the Kehoe Farming Rated Novice Hurdle. Racing prominently, he surged away in the straight to narrowly beat Tonaghneave Well by half a length.

Ol' Man Dingle delivered his third consecutive win — this time as a novice handicap debutant at Leopardstown during the Christmas Festival. Starting at 20/1, he led from the turn, made a minor jumping error at the last but rallied to finish with a commanding winning margin of nearly five lengths. Following this he was rated as one of the Top 20 Novice Hurdlers in Ire&GB.

Sent off 7/4 joint favourites for Galway's Race In Pink Raceday On Sunday 26th October Beginners Chase, Ol Man Dingle and Will The Wise were prominent throughout and the former found a little more up the hill to beat his market rival by half a length. Will The Wise went on at halfway and went a few lengths clear after jumping the last but the Ricky Doyle-ridden winner closed up entering the straight and got to the front well inside the final furlong to make a winning debut over fences.

Ol Man Dingle (11/4) landed Cork’s Grade 3 Paddy Power Irish EBF Novice Chase under jockey Ricky Doyle. The six-year-old had completed a hat-trick of hurdle wins last year and having scored on seasonal and chasing debut at Galway in October, today stepped into Graded company for the first time. Under Irish Grand National-winner Doyle, Ol Man Dingle was held up in the five-runner race and having disputed the lead from the third-last, eventually led on the run-in and scored by 2.75 lengths from You Oughta Know .

Ol' Man Dingle has proven adaptable across distances (2m up to 2m4f) on soft-to-yielding going conditions. His career is on an exciting upward trajectory with further improvement expected. With some luck he will be contesting at all the major festivals in the 2025-26 NH season.
