Lough Nigara was bought by Dunglen Racing in early 2025 and switched to Eoin Griffin’s stable after a lengthy break in training . Since the switch, his career has shown renewed signs of improvement.
Wexford, 17 May 2025: Marked Lough Nigara's debut with a respectable 7th of 14 in a 2m1f handicap hurdle, running prominently before fading, finishing under 7 lengths behind the winner Splendid Choice, starting as favourite at 3/1.
Listowel, 31 May 2025: Stepped back up in trip to 2m7f, racing in a hood for the first time. He responded well, staying on strongly to finish 3rd of 11, about 5½ lengths off the winner. That was his first top‑three finish for Dunglen Racing.
With improved stamina and better early-season fitness, Lough Nigara looks rejuvenated under Eoin Griffin looking like a genuine contender in staying handicap hurdles. A win seems well within reach, and future entries over staying trips of 2m4f–2m7f on testing ground could yield a breakthrough.
